IBgard Review
Editor's Rating:
IBgard works to regulate digestion and absorption by managing symptoms and triggers associated with IBS. It claims to normalize the lining of your gut and balance the bacteria found in the small intestine by using a technology called Site-Specific Targeting. This technology delivers microspheres of peppermint oil in the form of a 3 layer capsule rapidly to the small intestine. Today we are conducting a review of IBgard to see if this product lives up to its claims.
Ingredients
- Ultra-purified Peppermint Oil – 90 mg
Other Ingredients
- Microcrystalline Cellulose
- Gelatin
- Methacrylic Acid Copolymer
- Hypromellose
- Methylcellulose

It is surprising to see that this formula only contains peppermint oil and does not feature any enzymes that aid in digestion and absorption.
Dosage
IBgard is a capsule that contains individual microspheres of peppermint oil. The recommended dose is 1-2 capsules as needed 3 times a day or as directed by your doctor 30 minutes before or after meals. You should not exceed 8 capsules a day. The capsules can be swallowed as a whole or opened and dispensed into applesauce. The contents should not be crushed or chewed.
Possible Side Effects
While the manufacturer has advertised this product to have no side effects, research shows that there is a possibility of side effects associated with this product such as nausea, vomiting, or heartburn. It’s concerning that this product contains artificial food dyes such as FD&C Yellow #5 and FD&C Green #3. Consumer reviews have been both positive and negative, however, most of the negative comments are about the artificial additives and side effects they have experienced, acid reflux and heartburn being the most common.
Price
IBgard is available in boxes of 48 capsules and retails for $29.99 online. There are no bulk purchase discounts for this product but there are $2.00 coupons available from the manufacturer’s website. This product can be purchased from third-party distributors as well.
Guarantee
We were unable to find any money back guarantee on the website. There have been no comments from consumers who have purchased this product to suggest that they have managed to get a refund from the manufacturer.
Our IBgard Review – Conclusion
IBgard is potentially an effective product for relieving symptoms of IBS with its formulation of peppermint oil. The manufacturer has also provided a lot of information about the product on its website however, we cannot ignore the feedback from consumers about the side effects and artificial additives. While some ingredients may be natural this is not a holistic choice for people who are looking for an effective and natural way to curb their symptoms. There is not enough evidence to prove that this product can specifically target the small intestine with its technology and there is no guarantee or groundbreaking active ingredients in this formula to back up these claims made by the manufacturer.
